District : Barrio Gotico i Sant Pere Street : Carrer de Sant Domenech del Call Transport : Metro Pza.Catalunya, Jaume I |
The apartment is located perfectly in Barcelona's oldest neighbourhood. Once a city on its own surrounded by walls (of which some remainders can still be seen), now the core of one of Europe's most exciting cities. The many small artisan, antique, art and alternative stores give the Barrio Gotico its bohemian flavour. There are many historic buildings and museums to visit, like the museum of the history of the city, the church on Plaza del Pi, the Gothic cathedral, the monestary and some parts of the medieval and roman city walls.
Stroll along the vibrant Ramblas, visit the colourful Boqueria market, have a drink at the charming Plaza Real and discover the secrets that are hidden in the corners and small streets of the Barrio Gotico.
To visit other parts of the city you can easily take the metro. At the Ramblas you can take line 3 (green line) from metro stop Liceu and on the other side at Via Laietana from the stop called Jaume I you can take line 4 (yellow line) to the beach, although you can also walk to the beach through the old city and along the historic harbour, which is a pleasant walk of not more than 20 minutes. From Plaza Catalunya which is also within walking distance (or take the green line from Liceu) you can take a train or bus to the airport, the Costa Brava and Costa Dorada, here you will also find train and metro connections to the more remote, but very interesting corners of Barcelona like for example mount Tibidabo and the Collserola park.
