Cafes
What is great about the cafes in Barcelona is not only do they serve coffee but also wonderful food. Cafes in Barcelona have as wide a range as bars do. Each one is unique and has its own personality. Throughout the entire gothic area there are many places to take a break during a long day of trekking through the city. Cafes are usually open until 9 or 10 pm. You can find a great selection on “Calle Tallers” just off the Ramblas at the top and “Calle Verdi” in Gracia. Warning: If you are trying to avoid chocolate, rich and thick homemade chocolate, be very very careful in the old city. Inside those simple looking cafes with the pastries in the window and simple wooden tables hides the “Suizo”. This is a thick hot chocolate drink where the spoon stands straight up and is covered with whipped cream. You have been warned. |
