Our are located close to many museums in Barcelona.  For centuries Barcelona has been a center of art and culture. In the 20th century Barcelona became a Mecca of modernism and surrealism.

 Barcelona is filled with modern and classical muesums. There are always exhibitions in Barcelona museums as well as civic centers sponsored by banks such as :a Caixa and its foundation in "La pedrera".

Check at the tourist office in Plaza Catalunya for information on FREE entrance days to many Barcelona museums.  The tourist office will be able to inform you of all the current exhibitions of modern and classical art that can be found all over Barcelona.

Museo Picasso
The Picasso Museum in Barcelona is a clear example of the ties Pablo Picasso had with the city of Barcelona. Here, he not only received sound academic training but also the artistic spark that lit the flame and opened the doors towards modernism. CCCB Centro de Cultura Contemporanea de Barcelona
It is a multidisciplinary institution. The Centre organizes exhibitions, activities related to music, dance, courses, debates, city tours, etc. It is a centre dedicated to the city and the phenomena that occur there. It encourages artistic creation as from new technology and languages, research into the field of exhibitions, or debate. It can be defined as an urban culture Centre.

Casa Mila - La Pedrera
The most successful civil work by Gaudí. In this house Gaudí dispensed with straight lines, everything is curved and wavy both inside and out. The vaunts modernism techniques and trends to the maximum. Must see: Facade, chamfer details, columns, main balcony, terrace. Monument Characteristics Type of monument: Residence. Period: 20th Century Artistic style: Modernism. The rooms are different and are positioned around two interior courtyards. The chimneys of the roof terrace are sculptures in their own right and are well worth a visit. The area of the roof terrace is wavy with unequal arches. On the noble floor there are some sculptured columns that are worthy of admiration. It is full of Christian symbols throughout. Entrance fee: Adults: 6 E. Students, pensioners and children between 13 and 16 years of age: 3 E. Under 12s: Free. Environment: Works and buildings by Gaudí.
