Barcelona offers paradisiacal possibilities to go shopping. The city counts 35.000 shops and the variety of products is tremendous. Most shopping opportunities are located near our apartments or hotels in the city center.

Barcelona is a major shopping showcase. Its range of shops is a combination of tradition and modernity. Barcelona’s shops are part of the city’s identity and uniqueness and, together with the major brands of Spain and abroad, make it a shopping city of international standard.

Avinguda Diagonal

If you would like to visit Barcelona’s shopping centers, you should walk along the Avinguda Diagonal, which crosses the whole city. The most famous shopping center is ‘El Corte Inglés’, which offers floors full of special offers in all product categories- books, CD’s, sports goods, clothes, food etc.


Eixample

The quarter Eixample and its Passeig de Gràcia is known for its famous designer shops and fashion boutiques. Here you can find all top brands of perfumes, fashion, and furniture. Surrounded by big banks, many businessmen spend their lunchtime in the cafés of the shopping streets in Eixample.


Barri Gótic

Ancient stores with unique products are situated in Barcelona´s Old Town. Are you looking for a specialty shop of dried fruits, old liveries, hand-made dishes or Catalan delicacies? Go to the Barri Gótic and you’ll find everything you need!


You are interested in the newest trend? Barcelona, the fashion metropolis of Europe, is the right place for you. Famous Catalonian and Spanish designers as Custo, Armand Basi, Adolfo Domínguez, and Antonio Miró conquered the international fashion market. Big fashion chains as Zara, Mango or the shoe manufacturer Camper offer up-to-date and inexpensive products.


Barcelona’s markets

Extend your shopping pleasure to Barcelona’s wonderful markets. Whatever you prefer- flea markets or market halls- both can be found in the shopping paradise Barcelona.


Flea markets

Visit the flea market Els Encats, which is situated at the Plaça de les Glòries. This very vivid flea market offers clothes, jewelry, and rummage. It is open on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Antique lovers should visit Barcelona’s antique markets in front of the cathedral (Thu 9-20pm) and at the port near the Columbus monument (Sa/Su 11-21pm).

Philatelist can expand their collection by going to the Plaça Reial (Su 9-14.30pm) and bookworms might be interested in a market offering thousands of books and comics at Mercat Sant Antoni (Sa 11-20.30pm, Su 10-15pm) behind the quarter El Raval.


 




Market Halls

Due to the beautiful architecture of Barcelona’s market halls, a nice atmosphere accompanies your shopping tour. The market halls are open during weekdays. The most beautiful and attractive market hall is the Mercat La Boqueria at La Rambla. Here Barcelona’s merchants sell fresh vegetables, fruits, fish, meat etc.


Barcelona’s Shopping Line

The city's main shopping thoroughfare is known as the Barcelona Shopping Line. Its uniqueness with regard to other shopping districts lies in the fact that it encompasses an extensive area (some five kilometres), is mainly pedestrianised, and forms an integral part of the city and the lives of its inhabitants. This means that, as you walk through city's most beautiful streets and neighbourhoods, you can make your purchases at its many top quality shops.

The Bus Shopping Line is a good way to get around. The bus travels the entire Shopping Line and is the most convenient way to stop off at its shops and make your purchases. Rebaixes- Sales

Are you staying between 7th January and the beginning of March in one of our apartments or hotels in Barcelona? Or have you booked one of our Barcelona accommodations between the 1st July and the end of August? Then you are at the right place to the right time. During these periods Barcelona’s shops offer sales, the so-called ‘rebaixes’. You can get a big deal out of these sales, going down to a discount of 75 percent!



Souvenirs

Barcelona’s city center is full of souvenir shops. Culinary souvenirs are the best! Take a bottle of cava, wine or cognac back home, which are relatively inexpensive. However, the most popular souvenirs are goods of the Gaudi theme. Calendar, dishes, notebooks, mosaics- everything in the style of the famous architect Antoni Gaudí.


‘Tabacos’

In the famous tobacco shops with the brown sign stating in yellow letter ‘Tabacos’, you can not only buy cigarettes, cigars, tobacco, lighters, and other smoking equipment, but also stamps, telephone cards, and ten-way-tickets for the metro.
