Barcelona is een echte voetgangersstad. All onze appartementen en hotels liggen in de binnenstad van Barcelona vanwaar u de belangrijkste plekken makkelijk te voet kunt bereiken.

Barcelona desalnietemin een goed ontwikkelde infrastructuur voor openbaar vervoer. Er is een gratis brochure genaamd ‘Información sobre el transporte público en Barcelona’ beschikbaar, die een plattegrond van metro en buslijnen bevat. Deze brochure is verkrijgbaar in alle toerisme informatie centra of info punten voor vervoer, bijv. op Plaça de la Universitat (Info Tel: 010).

Tickets en Prijzen

The whole city center of Barcelona is one tariff zone. Tickets are valid for the Metro, FGC, Bus, Tram, and Renfe-Cercanías/Rodalies. Be aware that a change into another means of transportation demands a new ticket.

Tickets are available at the Metro and FGC entries, also in some newspaper and tobacco stores. The tickets have to be validated at the metro entrance and in the bus.



Barcelona Card

The tickets are available in all tourist information points and in the shopping center ‘Corte Inglés’ close to our Barcelona apartments and hotels.




Barcelona’s city transportation system includes five metro lines (L1-L5), which can be identified in different colors on all metro maps.

The F.G.C. (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat FGC) is a local train and mainly interesting when driving to the Tibidabo, Serra de Collserola and Sarrià. The main station for the FGC lines is situated at Plaça de Catalunya. If you would like to visit Montserrat, you should get on the train at Plaça d’Espanya.

The tram services cover some parts of the city. The T1-3 drive from Plaça Francesc Macià along the Avenida Diagonal to L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. The new T4 goes from Citudella/Villa Olímpica to Sant Adrià de Besòs.

The RENFE trains (Rodalies/Cercanías) drive in Barcelona and to nearby towns. Get on a RENFE train and discover e.g. the beautiful city Sitges. The main stations are Plaça Catalunya and Sants Estacio.

The bus lines cover the whole city. Bus guides are available in the Tourism Office or in simply calling 010. It is only allowed to get in the bus at the driver’s door. At night special night buses are going, for which you need extra tickets. All night buses start at Plaça de Catalunya.

Taxi

Barcelona’s taxis are black and yellow. If they are available, you will see a green light on top of the car and a sign on the windscreen.

Prices:

Minimum standard fee: 1.30€
Per kilometer: 0.74€
To or from the airport: extra charge of 3€ + 0.90€ per suitcase


However, the best way to discover is on foot. The distances are not very long. It takes only half an hour to walk e.g. from Plaça Catalunya to the district Gràcia. The Gothic Old Town (Barrí Gotic) or La Ribera have many pedestrian precincts. However, take care when crossing a road. Cars don’t pay attention to crosswalks and sometimes not even to traffic lights.
